Drawing inspiration from his grandfather, Joseph B. Lee, a renowned accountant and mentor, John developed a keen understanding of the IRS from an early age. Continuing the family tradition, both his father and sister pursued successful careers as attorneys in Tacoma, Washington.
In 1985, John furthered his legal education at Seattle University School of Law, specializing in Federal Tax Law. Graduating in 1988, he embarked on his legal journey by establishing his practice at Sterbick, Abel, & Sterbick, a distinguished law firm.
Throughout his career, John discovered that numerous tax debts could be effectively resolved through Chapter 7 bankruptcy or manageable payment plans under Chapter 13. This realization led him to expand his expertise and venture into bankruptcy law in 2009. His firm has since discharged millions of dollars of I RS debt for countless clients, earning a reputation for excellence in tax resolution.
John’s professional accomplishments have granted him admission to practice before esteemed legal institutions, including the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court, and the Washington State Superior Court. Furthermore, he proudly holds memberships in esteemed associations such as the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and the
Washington State Bar Association.
Beyond his legal practice, John finds solace in the embrace of his loving family- a cherished
wife and children who bring joy to his life. While not engaged in family activities, he enjoys hobbies, including ballroom dancing and golf.
